Finally got round to an attempt at finishing off this piece and can honestly say the art therapy I'm getting from working on one of these again is unreal! (been ages). Hoping to get it finished by the weekend, but come back to this page and will keep uploading its progress each day till its done. Wanting to go for an information overload with it so as to confuse you with far too many trippy goings on, loadsa tiny little details with far too much to look at as well as just allowing my imagination run wild to have some fun.(Will see how it turns out and yes im the worlds worst multitasker me, can only focus on one thing at a time, hugely emeresed in rivers, with too many other distractions including illness at present so sos to folk waiting on pieces, will get round to them eventually one at a time ha...)
Also swirling around my head at the moment is the fact there is more than one river Derwent in the UK. (that's the little green haired pointy eared character.) So I've decided to make him the runt of a family of four brothers. And because these other three brothers exist in Northumberland, Cumbria and Yorkshire, I had to think how and what I could build their own unique personalities around? Then the penny dropped and I just remembered back to my shopfitting days when I would work with various teams of lads (and ladess's) from around the UK. And yep although I can't speak for Cumbria folk that seemed very reserved to me, the Yorkshire teams and most certainly the Geordie's 100% aserted their dominance in their hilariously but inescapable field and sacred art of banta and pisstaking! Skills of which, far excelling in superiority and sheer natural talent, to the likes of the Derby and Derbyshire teams hands down. So in terms of my main character (Derbyshire's) Derwent, his three brothers are to be bigger, badder, meaner and tougher pisstaking older brothers all in competition with each other for the title of the UK's true river Derwent. Deffo a rough asbo family the Derwents are for sure and with Derbyshire's being the runt of the litter, he's the one who's had it the hardest the last thousand years or so ha. They will all have the family green hair and similar variations to a similar sort of costume style, all have an afinity towards oak trees and all plant life, but posessing various leg-pulling/bullying characteristics, (probably with some drinking/ substance abuse type problems thrown in ha) ... oh and be characters Derbyshire's river Derwent vowed never to speak to again unless it was to exact revenge ha.) Stay tuned for some new character designs...
Hope your good and taking care!
